Nosy Parker!

I have to agree that I don't look cute anymore when crawling because I'm bigger and taller now and when I get off the swings at the playground, people look in disbelief when I crawl. Mum had an unwanted conversation with this old woman:

Old woman: How old is he?

Mum: 14 months….

Old woman: Why is he crawling then?

Mum: Because he wants to…. (trying to walk away from her)

Old woman: (her voice gets a bit louder when she sees Mum trying to avoid the conversation) He needs to start walking. When you pulled him off from the swing, I expected him to walk but he CRAWLED!

Mum: I'm sure he will walk when he's ready. I don't want to force him.

Old woman: Sometimes, forcing is good!

Mum: (with a fake smile) OK….why don't you apply that to your grand-son who has been hogging the swing for 30 minutes when other people are queuing to use it? He needs to be taught how to be considerate.

Old woman: It's none of your business how we teach our kids/grand-kids.

Mum gives her a look which makes her stop talking and goes towards the swing to get her grand-son off the swing.

**No old women were hurt in this part of the conversation**

Boy oh boy...I am not sure if I would have been so calm and polite...How nasty some people are!

I hope that your next encounter at the park is nicer next time.

Best wishes and happy weekend,
Natasha.

I don't think you have anything to worry about EXCEPT annoying nosy people....

Some people discust me with how rude they can be!! Why is it always old women who seem to think they know it all! UGH!! I would have thrown sand in her face!

In a situation like this, it's hard to stay calm and level headed AND respectful since the lady is much older. Some people critique others without looking at themselves first. I know a few who are like that.

Unfortunately, there are plenty of these people around... I like how you handled the situation. ;p

out and about blog hopping - this is funny. I had two who walked at about 15 months. And what I LOVE is that they are both stinking brilliant. I wish I could find all those nosey, bossy old biddies and let them in on what the kids are doing now.

It was none of her business that your not walking yet!!!! And I say "You are still cute even if you are crawling." Don't pay attention to nosy busybodys...your Mum was wise to stand up for you and good for her in telling her to mind her own business! :)

Hello Ash, ha ha, interesting chat you had.
Some people simply got nothing better to say or do.
Anyway, time still to have a baby while the Tiger year is with us.
Have a nice day and keep a song in your heart, Lee.

You were so nice in not telling her to mind her own business. You didn't ask for her unwanted input.

Ash will walk when he's ready. Don't let this prevent you from letting him enjoy the park and being outdoors.

rude old woman.

My mama would have done the same thing Ash. Don't worry about not walking yet. I didn't start until I was over 14 months old.
